Deloris Marianno
Deloris Marianno (NEE Gadson), 78, passed away quietly on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, in Brookdale Echelon, Voorhees, NJ. Deloris was born March 16, 1942 in Barnwell, SC to the late Willie Taylor Gadson and John T. Gadson. She moved to Philadelphia, PA at age 3 and lived there for the next 51 years before moving to Pennsauken, NJ in 1996.
She graduated from Mastbaum High School and Manna Bible Institute and Deliverance Evangelistic Bible Institute, Philadelphia, PA. She worked as an Operator for the Bell Telephone Company for years and then for the US Postal Service for which she worked 36 years before retiring.
Deloris married Edward Carlton (Carl) Marianno, Jr. in 1962. From that union, two sons were born: Edward Carlton Marianno III and Kelly Douglas Marianno.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a sister, Hattie G. Boulden; 2 sons, Edward Carlton Marianno, III (Vilma) and Kelly Douglas Marianno (Sophonie); 3 granddaughters, Latrice Marianno (Ada), Kala Jenicek Marianno (Michael), and Jennifer Zamor; 3 grandsons, Keenan Marianno (Celeste), Quinn Marianno, Jaxon G. Marianno; nephew Wardell Gadson, niece Shawn Singh and a host of special family, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her mother, father; 2 brothers, Frank Gadson and Wardell Worsley.
Deloris was known for her devotion to her family and her deep dimples and beautiful smile. She loved to sing and dance and was very good at both. xxxx
She was a faithful member of Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Philadelphia for 22 years, then St. John’s Baptist church in Camden, NJ for 26 years until her illness prevented her regular attendance.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 5 at 10:00 am at TL Hutton Funeral Home located at 869 Beverly Rd, Burlington, NJ 08016.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Sylvia Christine Ellis
Sylvia Christine Ellis, 82 years of age, passed away, peacefully on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.
Sylvia was born Oct. 2, 1938 in Burlington, New Jersey to the late Sansberry Harris and Mary Powell Harris Walton. She was the youngest of 6 children, 4 of which preceded her in death.
Sylvia attended Burlington High School where she also met the love of her life, Roland Ellis, Jr. In 1958 the high school sweethearts married and their union was blessed with 2 children, April (deceased) and Evonne. Sylvia spent most of her career serving as a Bookkeeper at St. Mary’s/Doane Academy where she was very well-known and loved.
Sylvia professed her love of Christ at the age of 12. As an adult she became a member of Second Baptist Church where she faithfully served as an usher, trustee aid and a pastor's aid. She also took an active role in her community as a member of Women of the Word Ministry and Gifts of Love.
Sylvia was known to pray for and with others and loved to read her Bible. Leading her into her studies at Manna Bible Institute, where she earned her degree in ministry but continued her studies in the Lord, well after.
Sylvia Christine Ellis was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and will be missed a great deal. We love you Nona and carry you in our hearts always.
Sylvia leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 62 years Roland, youngest daughter, Evonne, sister, Constance Stanford, grandchildren, Danielle and Shaina Booker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Celebration of her life service for family only will be held, Thursday, December 3, 2020 11AM. James A. Stewart Jr.
James A. Stewart Jr. was born on April 9, 1934, to the late James A. Stewart, Sr. and Mary June (Bannister) Stewart, in Pulaski, VA. He was their youngest child and only brother to five siblings. James departed this life and entered into his eternal rest on November 8, 2020, in Mt. Holly, New Jersey.
​
James was graduated from Christianburg High School, Christianburg, VA., in 1952. He then continued his education at Bluefield State College, Bluefield West Virginia, (1952-1956) where he received his bachelor’s degree (in education) and became a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Upon graduation from college, James became a proud member of the United States Army, serving his country from 1956-1957.
​
On May 25, 1957, James married his sweetheart, Barbara Jean (Jones) Stewart. This union was blessed with two children, Robin Rochelle and James Andrew, III. During the early days of their marriage as James pursued his baseball career, they resided in Georgia, New York, and Philadelphia, Pa. They eventually settled in Willingboro, NJ. where they united in Christian fellowship with Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington, New Jersey, under the pastorate of the late Rev. Dr. Richard W. Jones.
​
James was an avid lover of sports and enjoyed memberships with several sports clubs. He was a talented player on the baseball diamond, the tennis court and the golf green. During the late 1950’s and into the early 1960’s James was a renowned catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies’ major and minor league teams. One of his other sports crowning achievements was made on the golf course; James made not one, not two, but three hole-in-ones during his lifetime.
​
Education was extremely important to James. So much so, that he returned to his studies, and in 1977 he received his Master’s Degree in Education from Antioch College. James was employed for thirty-three years at the Martin Luther King High School in Germantown, PA. He began his career as a physical education teacher and later transitioned to counselor. During his time at MLK, he also coached the high school’s baseball team (the King Cougars) and the football team. Additionally, for more than thirty years, James worked at the Youth Development Center in Bensalem, PA.
​
James was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters and his daughter Robin Rochelle Stewart. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of sixty-three years, Barbara Jean Jones Stewart, and his son, James Andrew Stewart, III, his grandson Andrew James Stewart and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
​
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the TL Hutton Family & Friends Funeral Services, 869 Beverly Road, Burlington, NJ. Family and friends may participate in a walkthrough viewing from 10:00 am until time of service. Masks must be worn. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ, following the service.

Freddie Cornelius Knighten
Freddie Cornelius Knighten, also known as W. Frederick C. Knighten, III, age 98, of Eastampton, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at The Atrium Post Acute Care of Princeton, New Jersey, after a long illness.
He was born in Clinton Louisiana; Freddie lived in Eastampton Township, New Jersey for the past 56 years with his wife Rosa, until her death in 2009 after retiring from the Army. Freddie met Rosa while in the military stationed in Georgia, he married her on July 13, 1944 in Maryland before he was deployed overseas.
​
He was one of three children from the union of the late Green and Florence “Williams” Knighten.
Freddie was educated in the Louisiana school system and also attended military school in Fort Holabird, Maryland.
Freddie enlisted in the United States Army on February 24, 1942 and served faithfully until he retired. During his military career, he served in various Army posts in the United States, Europe, and in the Far East. He was stationed at Fort Bragg North Carolina, Camp Stoneman California, Yokohama Japan, Inchon Korea, Sasebo Japan, San Francisco California, Fort Jackson South Carolina, Bremerhaven Germany, Camp Stewart Georgia, Seattle Washington, Kimpo AFB Korea, Tachikawa Japan, Fort Knox Kentucky and Fort Dix New Jersey.

Fred retired from the United States Army October 1964, after completion of twenty-two years, six months and seven days of active service. He was awarded the following medals:

Freddie served on the Eastampton Township Planning Board for 28 years, from 1979 through 2007 when he resigned to take care of his wife Rosa.
Freddie also served on the Burlington County Community Action Program (BCCAP) from 1964 until October 21, 2013, and he was one of the original founding members of BCCAP. On October 21, 2013, Freddie was honored by BCCAP when they changed the name of the Development Center in his honor for years of service to the W. Frederick C. Knighten, III Head Start Child Development Center. Freddie received a Citation in 2005 from the New Jersey Legislative District, through their elected representative for supporting the mission and goals of the Burlington County Community Action Program and improving the quality of life for the residents of Burlington County. He was the first recipient of the Eastampton Township Mayor’s Lifetime Community Service Award in July 2007.
​
Fred was nominated for Governor Jim Florio’s 1990 Governor’s Volunteer Award for his outstanding volunteer efforts in participating with the New Jersey Head Start Program for families and their children.
He received special recognition for exemplary performance and outstanding service from the United States Army at Fort Dix, New Jersey, while working as a civilian in 1976 and has received numerous other awards and recognitions.
Freddie received a Citation from Governor Richard J. Hughes in 1965 for excellent work performed with the Rural Youth Development Project for the disadvantaged.
​
Fred’s interests includes, family, children, education, working with handicapped individuals, assisting the economically deprived, debating, golf and issues of the communities.
​
Son of the late Green and Florence “Williams” Knighten; husband of the late Rosa M. Knighten; brother of the late Clarence (Katie) and Frank Knighten, he is survived by Bessie Emanuel, and a Granddaughter Anna Emanuel-Toliferro, Trenton, NJ, a special cousin Joan Stone, CA, special friends, Julia and Henry Gilyard, Browns Mills, NJ, Jerry and Cynthia Anthony and several other cousins.

Grave side services will be held at 10.am. Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ.

Sandra Barbara Cummings
Sandra Barbara Cummings was born January 22, 1950, in the Bronx, New York. She was the fourth of six children, the youngest daughter of Isaac and Elease Cummings.
​
Sandra departed this life on November 15, 2020, at Virtua Hospital, Mount Holly, New Jersey.
​
Sandra was educated in the New York City School system. She graduated with honors from Central Commercial High School, Manhattan, New York in June 1967. After completing high school, Sandra resided in California, Texas, and New York… eventually moving to Willingboro, New Jersey in 1991.
​
Sandra spent 25 years with Verizon (formerly New York Telephone Company), finishing her career in management as a Computer Programmer, where she was well known and admired. Sandra retired from Verizon in 2003.
​
Sandra was an extremely talented artist, book collector and an avid reader. She also had a profound love of music and fashion.
Sandra’s greatest motivation in life and source of joy was her children Eddie, Duane, & Staci. She sacrificed and worked tirelessly to provide her children a better life and give them the best opportunities available (schools, programs, and athletics). All who knew Sandra, understood she prioritized education over all else. Sandra did not play! She sent her three children to college all on her own. Her children knew her as a strict disciplinarian. However, she doted on her seven grandchildren and became known as the “cool’ grandma.
​
Throughout her life, Sandra also stressed the importance of family. She willingly opened her home to those in need. Sandra’s home became a sanctuary for every family member who needed a place to stay, a few laughs, a shoulder to cry on, or a place to be heard. She listened with care and was always a source of support. Her home was the meeting place…where “Ma”, “San”, “Grandma”, “Aunt Sandra”, as she was affectionately known, did GOD’s work, providing love to all.
​
Sandra was preceded in death by her loving parents Isaac & Elease Cummings, her sister, Rita Edmond, and her brother, Stanley Cummings.
​
Sandra was wonderfully devoted to her three children Eddie Fontno (Rahkel), Duane Fontno (Monica), and Staci Carter (William). She was a loving Grandmother to Erinn Fontno, Maceo Fontno, Laurynn Fontno, Ciani Carter, Janay Fontno, Zaire Carter and Lenox Haffoney.
​
She is also survived by her sister: Dorothy Tannis, brothers: Kevin Cummings (Laura), Bryan Cummings (Melissa). She leaves to cherish her memory; her devoted companion for more than 24 years, Richard Haffoney; bonus children: Levar Haffoney, Kendra Haffoney and Erin Rojas. Sandra leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other devoted family members and friends.
Sandra was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.

Sheila Darlene Diggs
Sheila Darlene Diggs was born on June 22, 1963 in Riverside, NJ to Shirley Diggs and the late Arthur Royal. She went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 15, 2020.
​
Sheila was raised in Burlington City, NJ and attended Burlington City Public Schools before enrolling in Wilfred Beauty Academy to study Cosmetology. During the years, Sheila worked a variety of jobs, but none brought her as much joy as operating a home-based childcare business for several years. Sheila loved children. She had a love for life and shared it with others simply through interaction. Sheila had open arms, a listening ear, and sage advice for anyone she encountered. Her life experiences taught so many things that inspired Sheila to share her testimony, to encourage another person. Sheila dedicated her life to Christ as a young adult and during her last days, she continued to feed her Spirit with the word of God.
​
Sheila was known to be social, friendly, and well-liked by many. Her exuberant personality was infectious, and she would easily bring a person to their knees crying in laughter. She was such an outgoing person. Even in her youth, she loved the outdoors, swimming, and roller skating. Later, Sheila enjoyed traveling to many areas of the country to visit her military sons. As a mother and grandmother, Sheila loved fiercely! She was attentive, protective, and instilled a strong sense of family. She took on this dual role by raising three of her grandchildren, Kaleb, Kennedy, and Kyler, and always fought for their best interest. Sheila was proud of the family she created and spent as much time as she could with her children and grandchildren. She was loved deeply and surely will be missed. As Sheila would often say, “With all thy getting, get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7).
​
Left behind to cherish her memories are five children: Crashon Diggs of Killeen, Texas; Catrina Slater (Philippe) of Brooklyn Park, MD; Cameron Diggs (Koneisha) of Tucson, Arizona; Kareem Diggs (Angela) of Mt. Holly, NJ; and Kateena Diggs of Burlington, NJ; twenty grandchildren: Cianni, Aniya, Tamoni, Crashon Jr., Promyse, Kasan, Layla, Alayna, Nafia, Siyani, Camryn, Cayden, Kimora, Kaleb, Kennedy, Kyler, Kamyra, Kayla, Kaydence, and Jace; one bonus grandchild, Malaisha; and two great grandchildren: Asai and A’mari. Sheila is survived by her mother, three sisters, six brothers, and a host of friends and family.

Jimmie Thacker III
Jimmie Thacker III son of the late Jimmie Thacker II, Barbara J. McCaskill and step son to John McCaskill was born on February 6, 1960 in Columbia, SC. Then resided in Willingboro NJ to current times.
Jimmie graduated from Willingboro Highschool in Willingboro, NJ in 1978 where he was a star basketball player. He went on to further his education with a full basketball scholarship at Fayetteville State University.
Jimmie rededicated his life to Christ in 1986. Jimmie also enjoyed reading and studying his bible. He reminded everyone around him how important it was to study the bible for understanding. Jimmie loved Jesus Christ, and he served the Lord through worship of music and various outreach ministries.
Jimmie enjoyed watching all kinds of movies, his favorite movies were Troy, Forrest Gump and all types of action and gladiator movies. Jimmie enjoyed the outdoors, he could tell you all kinds of things about animals and name the birds that fly in the sky. He also was a great fisherman. He was a talented bass guitar and keyboard player.He wrote all his songs from the heart and could play by ear with no professional training, his musical talents came from the Lord above.
He departed this life on November 12, 2020. He goes on to join in heaven his parents Jimmie Thacker III and Barbara J. McCaskill. He leaves to embrace his memory: step father John McCaskill; daughters Jasmine Thacker and Tylar Johnson (Brian); siblings Velvette Jones and Andrei Thacker;Nieces Noelle Jones and Alexis Thacker Daniels and Nephews Braylon Jones and Andrei Thacker Jr.; uncle Clay Howell (Deborah); cousins Larry, Damon, Ebony and Brandy His girlfriend Jilma Bell and a host of other family and friends.

Mary Theresa Williams
Mary Theresa Williams was born on October 14th 1958 in Riverside, NJ to the late Jane Williams and James Fralin. She departed this life on November 5, 2020 surrounded by her family. Mary was educated in City of Burlington public school system. She attended Wesley AME Zion church for most of her life. As a youth, Mary served as the director of Wesley Choir under the direction of the late Rev. Anna Thomas. She accepted Christ at an early age and rededicated her life to the Lord later in life.
​
Mary was always the life of the party wherever she went. During her teenage years, she was known for having the best house parties on Jones Avenue. Those epic parties even came with the “blue light.” Mary had the most energetic and funny personality around. A few weeks before she passed, Mary found enough strength to get one more birthday dance on Facebook live.
​
Mary loved to play bingo and cards with the Card Club of Burlington. Mary’s pride and joy was her children and grandchildren. She would stand up for all seven of her children no matter what! Mary brought her family much laughter, joys and fond memories. You were guaranteed a laugh every time you were in Mary’s presence. Mary was a mighty fighter and always knew she was in God’s hands. We are resting in to be absent from the body means to be present with the lord.

Rolette Selone Meekins Hyman
Rolette Selone Meekins Hyman was born on June 20, 1962 in Mount Holly, New Jersey to Ellen S. Meekins and Carl Thomas. Blessed in her life with a loving family and strong faith, she was embraced in the arms of her husband Stacy as he walked his soulmate to the finish line peacefully to transition with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 5, 2020.
As a youth she attended Second Baptist Church in Moorestown, New Jersey under the spiritual leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Dennis E. Norris and was baptized in 1971. Her grandmother the late Mary Lucy Reynolds, affectionately known as “Nan”, was a very instrumental part of her spiritual life and she was so blessed to have “Nan”. Rolette grew up on Beech Street in Moorestown and loved her time there.
Rolette was educated through the Moorestown Public School system and graduated from Moorestown High in 1981 and was a member of the Concert Choir and track team.
She had an exuberant personality, an infectious smile, warm heart and showed many how to earn love and give love. She was dearly loved by her classmates and friends. She genuinely loved the Class of 1981; they loved her and became a part of her extended family.
Rolette married her soulmate Stacy Hyman on March 28, 1990 in Burlington Township. This union of thirty years was blessed with love, joy and happiness. The Lord blessed their marriage with three beautiful children Christina, Christopher and Cadey.
The three most important things in Rolette life was being a wife, mother and grandmother. Family meant the world to Rolette. She enjoyed taking her children to Wildwood and attending their school activities. She loved taking her granddaughters Jasmyn and Alexis on the train to museums, storybook land, the aquarium, Reading Terminal, Chinatown and the Christmas Village.
She was employed at Ansercomm in Burlington Township for 10 years and then in 2018, Rolette was overjoyed when she received the phone call to work at Advocare Burlington County Obstetrics & Gynecology in Burlington, NJ. Rolette’s customer service skills were a strength that exuded compassion, assurance, kindness and comfort to many who spoke with her over the phone.
Rolette’s passion was spending time with her family at birthdays, graduations, weddings and cookouts. Her hobby was reading. She was an avid reader and loved her bookshelves.
Her grandmother Mary Lucy Reynolds, daughter Christina Ann Ellen Meekins and father-in-law George Pritchett predeceased her.
Left to cherish memory are her husband, Stacy Hyman of Burlington, NJ; son, Christopher Meekins of Allentown, PA; daughter, Cadey Hyman of Burlington, NJ; mother, Ellen S. Meekins of Palmyra, NJ; father, Carl Thomas of Audubon, NJ; four grandchildren, Jasmyn, Alexis, Brayden and Cameron; sister Donna Forrest (Alanda) of Sicklerville, NJ; brothers Carl Thomas, Jr.(Rowena) of Converse, Texas and Christopher Thomas of Coco Beach, Florida and a host of many relatives and friends.

Wayne F. Nelson
Wayne F. Nelson, son of the late Howard and Sarah Lucille Nelson, born on October 17th, 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was one of seven children. Wayne went home peacefully to be with the Lord on November 3rd, 2020. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Wayne is preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara Lindsay, Marie Wade and his brother, Howard Nelson, Jr.
Wayne was educated in the North Philadelphia Public School System. He attended Fitzsimons Junior High School and Simon Gratz High School.
Wayne was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967. While in the Marine Corps, Wayne fought In the Vietnam War as an Infantry Machine Gunner. While fighting for his country Wayne was wounded in combat in which he earned a Purple Heart. When Wayne returned to his hometown of Philadelphia he met and wed, Linda M. Finger. From that union, Linda and Wayne, have four daughters. Wayne worked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard as a carpenter for years until its closing.
Wayne was an active member of Alpha Baptist Church in Willingboro New Jersey. He loved hearing the word of God from Pastor Scotton and appreciated the support he received from the church (special friend Deacon Lee). Due to his strong desire to be baptized, Wayne was baptized in March of 2020 which symbolized his relationship to Christ and the personal testimony of his life.
Wayne known to his siblings as “Pinky” was known for his fun, loving spirit, his love of fishing, playing chess, involvement in the VFW, and his love for Cadillacs. Wayne enjoyed listening to jazz music, celebrating his birthday with parties, and watching sports.
Survived by his wife Linda of 47 years, daughters Dina Spotwood, Monique Nelson, Lakeysha Henley (Javon), Lakeyia Nelson, Yolanda Nelson, and 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchild, brother John “Johnny” Nelson, and sisters Elizabeth Nelson McCorkle and Angel Nelson Smith, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2020 10:30 AM at the TL Hutton Family & Friends Funeral Services, 869 Beverly Road, Burlington, NJ. Family and friends may participate in a walk through viewing 9 AM until time of service. Masks must be worn. Interment: BGWCD Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ
