Harry R. Steward, of Edgewater Park, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021. There will be a live stream virtual viewing 10am-11am, Thursday, January 21, 2021 @ www.TLHuttonfuneralservices.com. Interment: Northwood Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pa.

Harry was born October 16, 1946 to Harry B. and Olivia M. Steward in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He went to his rest on January 10, 2021 after a brave, decade’s long battle with a serious illness.
​
Harry was the 2nd oldest of 6 siblings: Priscilla, Kenneth, Leonard, Cordell and Francine. He grew up in the Church and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age. Harry graduated from West Philadelphia High School and attended Philadelphia Community College. Harry was a hard worker who served his country honorably as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force. He went on to work as a highly skilled CNC machinist for many years. Harry retired after a long, successful career in real estate at Weichert Realtors in Burlington, NJ.

Harry was a devoted family man. He loved spending time with his wife, Renell, and his many relatives especially Rudolph Steward, Tonja, Kenyatta, Nakida, Najah, Chelsea and Charlie. For over 40 years, he looked forward to helping to plan his family’s annual reunion. Harry was very excited to travel and spend time with his family each year. Whenever it was time to get an important message out to his entire family, that was Harry’s job. Harry enjoyed traveling, jogging and exercising along with football, basketball, boxing and playing ping-pong. He was gifted mechanically and was always busy repairing and maintaining vehicles and things around the house.

Harry was a man of faith who was blessed to have been an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington, New Jersey. He loved studying God’s Word, learning and being of service to others. He attended Tuesday and Wednesday Bible Study and The Men’s Ministry Bible Study. Harry enjoyed being a Sunday School Teacher because of what he could share with his students and what his students could teach him. He also spent time working with the Mission Ministry and Youth Ministry. Harry traveled around the country with his fellow Tabernacle Baptist Church members on several exciting trips. He was also blessed to enjoy the fellowship of friends while attending the Saturday Men’s Bible Study at First Baptist Church of Willingboro, New Jersey.

Harry will truly be missed. He was a warm, caring soul with a kind, generous heart. He had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor. Harry was sick for a long time, but God blessed him to continue to fight the good fight. He touched many lives, and he was loved dearly. Harry’s memory will be cherished and live on in the hearts of an enormous wealth of family, friends, neighbors and colleagues.

The Steward family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the enormous outpouring of prayers and countless expressions of concern, love and sympathy. God bless you all for your kindness.

The Steward family would also like to thank the nurses and doctors in the Cardiology Department at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA and the Jefferson Home Infusion Team who have taken such good care of Harry over the years.
